We’re a large, versatile space that is ideal for hosting birthdays, staff functions, holiday parties, receptions, retirements and more, with plenty of customizable options that can be tailored to meet your needs. Hero’s is also available to book for ticketed events, including concerts, fundraisers and workshops!
GENERAL RESERVATIONS
We take reservations until 10PM daily except for Tuesdays (6:45PM cutoff for Trivia).
Bookings have a time limit of 3.5 hours unless otherwise stated.
We don’t take same-day reservations after we open or reservations over the phone however we’re typically able to accommodate walk-ins!
We are a liquor primary establishment with a family friendly food extension. All 19+ guests must have valid ID on them at all times. Minors are permitted on premises until 8PM given that they are supervised at all times and accompanied by a parent/legal guardian.
Not “just” a bar.
The American is a barcade and special event venue located at the intersection between Mount Pleasant, Strathcona and Chinatown neighbourhoods. Our unique space can be formatted in a variety of different layouts and can accommodate groups big and small.
We have a rotating draught selection featuring some of the best craft breweries in the city along with a great variety of natural wine and delicious seasonal cocktails. We’re also home to DownLow Burgers helmed by Head Chef Doug Stephens of DownLow Chicken Shack.
The American is much more than just a bar! The space features a pool table, arcade games and an impressive lineup of pinball machines along with plenty of TVs and two large projector screens to catch your favourite sporting events. We don’t charge a deposit in advance however deposit information is collected for large parties to help alleviate last minute cancellations or no-shows.
If a date or time you’re looking to book is unavailable, please check our Events Calendar. For certain events we may not take any reservations or have limited booking availability. If there is no event listed we are full for reservations on that date.
