American Idol Finals
The American Idol Finals are here! We’ve been handing out Golden Tickets to star performers on our Thursday karaoke nights and now’s the time to cash them in. Your favourite spot for karaoke is putting a call out to singers with dreams of superstardom (or just dreams of putting a little cash in their wallets) to come and impress our panel of (not-so) celebrity judges!
Contestants will need to lay it all on the line for a chance to win the top prize of $200 CASH and the illustrious title of THE American Idol. Performances will be judged on vocal performance, star power, costume, and crowd participation.

Drawing From Memory
Each month we’ll invite some of the funniest people in the city to host a drawing competition and ask you to draw things such as, but not limited to, your favourite cartoon character, significant cultural moments, album covers, and whatever else our hosts feel like throwing at you.
The catch? You must draw everything from memory within 15 minutes, and absolutely zero references are allowed. Once you’re done, our hosts will round up your submissions, pick their favourites and share their thoughts on the best (and politely roast the worst). Sounds like a good time, right? We thought so too.

Chris Berner is one of the most exciting composers on the Vancouver Jazz Scene, with his original music having been performed by artists like Bria Skonberg & the Hard Rubber Orchestra.
He'll be leading his own 18 person Jazz band at the American on May 31, performing his own original music written for Jazz orchestra.
This performance is part of Very Big Bands at the American, a new monthly series presented by Infidels Jazz.
